We believe that there are other ways of planting seeds into the lives of our children. Carefully chosen picture books can expose children to many valuable lessons. Our Tiny Seeds Library is not only arranged by the books of the Bible but also cateloged by subject. The inspiration for these particular topics came from the Precious Moments Edition of the Bible, which was used by my children when they were young. I was also inspired by the Biblical virtues of a prayer group called Moms in Touch. Below are these subjects/character traits/Biblical virtues we used:
Belief in the Presence of God, Trusting in His Promises, Prayfulness, Grace and Salvation, Courage, Contentment, Compassion, Creativity, Determination/Confidence, Forgiveness, Friendliness, Generosity, Honesty, Humility, Initiative, Kindness, Loyalty, Manners, Obedience, Optimism, Punctuality, Patience, Responsibility, Reverence, Respectfulness, Self Control, Tolerance, Thriftiness, Thankfulness, Purity, and Work.
THE WEEK OF JANUARY 24-30 - BOOK OF 1 KINGS
Sadly, the nation became divided into two kingdoms in the First Book of Kings. Solomon followed his father David as king but we will save the wisdom from his reign for the Book of Proverbs. After Solomon, the kings and the people drifted more and more away from God and started worshiping other Gods. Once again, God sends heroes such as Elijah to help save the people.
Start a conversation this week about courage and trusting in the presence of God.
Scripture to harvest include:
1 Kings 18:21-22
"And Elijah came near to all the people and said, "How long will you go limping between two different opinions?"
("Elijah Helps the Widow" By Nanette Thorsen-Snipes)
("God, Please Send Fire - Elijah and the Prophets of Baal" By Marilyn Lashbrook)
1 Kings 19:11-12
"There was a great and mighty wind, splitting mountains and shattering rocks by the power of God, but God was not in the wind. After the wind - an earthquake, but God was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake - fire; but God was not in the fire. After the fire - a still small voice."
("God In Between" By Sandy Eisenberg Sasso )

I BELIEVE IN CHILDREN
....There is faith in their eyes,
Love in their touch
And hope in their attitude.
....I thrill with them at life's joy's
Run with them through tall grasses
And bow with them in worship.
....They are the fragile dream of yesterday,
Life's radiant reality of today
And the vibrant vision of tomorrow.

Our Mission Statement
We believe that it is never too early to introduce a child to God's amazing love through a hands-on experience of growing and tending a garden. A strong foundation of faith can be built upon this very early exposure to garden experiences as related to scripture and Biblical teachings of obedience, patience, hard work, dependence on God, tolerance of others, humility, kindness, generosity, prayer, and praise.
